Rosacea

  • This is a very common condition of the skin of the face which has many features.  

  • The most common features are the following: 

  • redness/heat/flushing of the central face

  • Pimples and blemishes

  • Broken blood vessels

  • Other types of rosacea include the following: 

  • Changes in the texture of skin

  • Thickening of the skin especially around the nose 

Skin Care
  • Red itchy eyes

  • Rosacea skin if often dry but people may have very oily spots as well. 

  • Rosacea is very sensitive to environment.

  • Common triggers for rosacea include the following: 

  • UV exposure

  • Temperature extremes

  • Extreme wind

  • Spicy foods

  • Red wine

  • Hot baths

  • Make sure to moisturize your skin daily. 

  • Wash with gentle cleansers daily and then moisturize.  

  • A low strength salicylic acid wash (about 5% or less) is often helpful but higher strengths of abrasive acids and exfoliants can flare rosacea skin. 

  • Cool skin off immediately after exercise.
